Advent: Day 2

When I came downstairs this morning, I found that Landon had already put together his lego character for the day.  He is just a little bit excited for his advent calendar!

 Bible Verses: Daniel 9:24-27, Isaiah 60:1-3, and Isaiah 19-22:
 The sun will no more be your light by day,
   nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the LORD will be your everlasting light,
   and your God will be your glory.
 Your sun will never set again,
   and your moon will wane no more;
the LORD will be your everlasting light,
   and your days of sorrow will end.
 Then all your people will be righteous
   and they will possess the land forever.
They are the shoot I have planted,
   the work of my hands,
   for the display of my splendor.
 The least of you will become a thousand,
   the smallest a mighty nation.
I am the LORD;
   in its time I will do this swiftly.

 Activity:  Make paper bag luminaries.  The kids really liked the tin can luminaries we made last year but I wanted something a little bit easier this year.  Once the kids figured out that they had to use only one design {not one on the front and the back} and how to roll and bend the paper bag to get the hole punch to fit, they were a hit!  I got some battery powered tea lights to put in the bags.  The kids can't wait to run the lights tonight!
