Advent: Day 7

Lego Star Wars Calendar:

Activities:
write and mail a santa letter at Macy's
buy food for the food shelf
buy gifts for ornaments taken from church

we headed over to Macy's this morning for the kids to write letters to santa.
they had a great little set up.
table, fancy chairs, pencils wrapped in velvet, and cute post cards.

after writing their letters, the kids placed their letters in the post office box in mace's.
macy's donates one dollar from every letter mailed in their mailbox to the make-a-wish foundation.
its really a neat set up and the kids loved it.

after we finished santa letters, we went shopping to pick up food for the food shelf,

and gifts for some local foster children.
{thanks to groupon and great sales at old navy we were able to provide a gift and some clothes. i love when we can get a lot of bang for our buck!}

Bible Verses:
“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the LORD Almighty.
Malachi 3:1

His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come to his people and redeemed them.
He has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David
(as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
salvation from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us—
to show mercy to our ancestors
and to remember his holy covenant,
the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
and to enable us to serve him without fear
in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
Luke 1:67-79
