Advent: Day 6

Activity:

go ice skating

 ever since i started planning advent, i have heard my kids dropping hints about things they wanted to do for advent this year.  topping the list was ice skating.

we missed our day ice skating last year due to the flu running through our house so the kids were really anxious to get to go this year.  

i am pretty sure they knew they would get to go ice skating since we had some free passes from the summer reading program at the library.  everyday they would say "i hope its an ice skating day"

today was finally the day!

there was jumping up and down and hooting and hollering when they read the slip.

we arrived at the ice skating rink and it was empty.

we had the entire rink to ourselves.

we got the skate mate for mauryn.

it was perfect for her.

she loved being independent and was so excited about ice skating.

morgan hadn't been on the ice since we went two years ago but easily fell back into step with skating.  

i have a feeling that she will be dragging out the rollerblades this spring to practice up in case we go skating again next winter!

landon was brave enough to try skating without the skate mate.

he did pretty well.

he took two bad falls and hit his head but he got right back up to try again.

 our time was filled with kids feeling brave and trying new things,

 some hanging onto the rails,

a few falls, 

plenty of giggles and laughter, and great memories.
