Advent: Day 14

Lego Calendar:
Activity:  Free Hot Chocolate Stand

Last year the temperature was on 12 degrees on the day we did our hot chocolate stand.

Morgan woke up in the middle of the night with the flu and then it started to rain pretty hard this morning. I was sure we would have to reschedule our activity for today.  At around 8:30, I told the kids if it didn't stop raining by around 9:00 we would not do the hot chocolate stand today.  Landon and I prayed that the rain would clear so we could set up our stand for at least an hour today.  By 9:00 the rain had stopped and the skies were clearing.

We loaded up the car with our table, cups, napkins, and hot chocolate.

Mauryn ready to give out some hot chocolate
Landon calling out to people passing by to come and get some hot chocolate
Our hard little workers giving out hot chocolate.  My friend Kara, her daughter Addie, and her niece Kenna, and nephew Chade joined us to hand out hot chocolate.
I found these great candy canes and magnet at Oriental Trading to hand out to any of our customers
One of the mugs we made yesterday had a chip out of the inside so we used it today to hold our spoons
Landon sneaking a marshmallow when he was on marshmallow duty
 Mauryn braving the wind
The little workers needed to taste test their hot chocolate
Mauryn sipping her hot chocolate with a spoon
The weather held for about an hour and a half.  Just as we were thinking about packing it up a big wind gust came through and we were scrambling to pick up napkins, spoons, and cups.  By the time we had loaded everything up the rain started again. The kids had a great time handing out hot chocolate, magnets, and candy canes.  We had many visitors this year and we enjoyed visiting with all the people who stopped by to get their hot chocolate.

Bible Verses:  Mark 1:1-11
The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
   who will prepare your way”—

“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
   make straight paths for him.
'"
And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Mark 16:15
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
