A Sickie

The tears started as soon as she woke up on Sunday morning.  When I asked what was wrong, the response I received was just that she was tired.  It was reasonable to think she was exhausted after a full Saturday with a gymnastics meet and a night full of skiing.

I was cleaning up in the nursery at chutch when she came to find me, in tears again.  This seemed to be more than exhaustion!  She said she felt fine, but the tears continued to flow.  We scooted out of church as fast as we could, no time for socializing today.

We walked in the door, I offered her some lunch and I was met with the reply "I just want to go to bed"   Off to bed she went for a 4 hour nap!  When she awoke she was more pleasant, but I could still see tiredness in her eyes.  I was concerned after such a big nap that she would have a hard time going to bed but she was sound asleep at her regular bedtime. Hmm....

Monday morning came and she said she felt better but by mid morning she was asking for a nap. A nap, again?  We finished up some school work, ate lunch, and she was asleep before her head hit the pillow for two hours.  When she woke up from her nap, she had a fever and a cough. Where did they come from?? The rest of the day was spent lounging in pj's, watching movies, and getting a sweet treat from coldstone creamery! You know ice cream helps when you have a cold :o)

She had a "sick day" on Tuesday. Her fever was gone but she still had the cough.  There was time spent on the couch, curled up under a blanket, reading some Ramona books, and watching lots of Little House on the Prairie episodes.

The cough still lingers, and I think it will be with her a few days.  She has talked to a few of her friends from gymnastics and it seems to be running its course through the gym.  I am thankful that she didn't have the aches and pains, her fever didn't last, and the cough isn't interfering with her sleep.  Even though I don't like to see her sick, it was nice to just relax and enjoy some down time together yesterday.  I got to be lazy too, sit in my comfy clothes, curl up with a blanket, and relive some childhood memories watching Little House on the Prairie.
