A Whole Bunch of Random

- This past weekend we headed up to the mountains. No bear sightings this time- PHEW! We spent Thursday afternoon through Saturday afternoon with some friends at a cabin about an hour and a half from here. The weather was gorgeous. Warm during the day and cool at night. Perfect for sleeping with the windows open and having a bonfire.  There were many late nights and early mornings filled with plenty of laughter.  On Saturday afternoon we packed up and went to McCall to meet our neighbors for an overnight there. I had never been to McCall and it is amazing! The lake is absolutely stunning. We biked, swam, and hung out on Saturday. On Sunday morning we woke up to freezing cold temperatures and some rain. Pat, Val, and I were all participating in the Payette Lake Run, running different distances.  I met up with some of my friends from Team in Training for the run which was great.  After the run was over we went back to the condo to warm up in front of the fire. We had Sarah's recipe for grilled pizzas for lunch. Oh. my. word. So yummy!  We packed it in on Sunday afternoon to head home since Lance had to work on Monday. I am still trying to get life back in order. Why does it have to take so long?

- We started school last Monday.  It was a bit of a mixed up week since we had some appointments and other things scheduled so we didn't get into a groove with our days.  Even with our crazy schedule we got everything we need to accomplished.  Landon is showing an interest in school this year. Last year he was all about playing but now he wants to do school everyday.  I am so thankful! My biggest challenge is going to be keeping Mauryn out of our school things.  She definitely wants to be right in the middle of everything.

- Morgan started piano lessons. She was so excited she could hardly concentrate this morning. I found someone who will come to our house to do piano lessons. What a life saver!

- Mauryn has learned to gallop.  One day she started galloping all over the house. It is so stinkin' cute to see this little person bounding around the house. She has crawled out of her crib once - lovely! I am hoping it was a one time thing because it sort of scared her. She loves to climb in her crib and jump.  Today she actually crawled in there before lunch and fell fast asleep.

- I was shopping with the kids the other day when I noticed some new styles for fall- stirrup pants and bubble skirts. For real.  Oh the memories of junior high.

- Starting tomorrow night I am going to be taking James Dobson's Bringing Up Boys class at our church. A few years ago Lance and I did his Dare and Discipline class and it was really good. I am looking forward to gaining some insight into my boy!

  1. What a fun post! Thanks for all of the updates. I am planning to give piano lessons to two little girls at their house when we move back to MD. My friend, Lisa (their mom), has four kids. She is going to watch Adeline for me and then occasionally babysit for me in exchange for the lessons. I hope Morgan loves it. The piano is so good for you mentally, spiritually, and does wonders for your fine motor control.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Friends, beautiful weather, nature....ahhhh....

    Video of the galloping please.

Stirrup pants AND bubble skirts...you have GOT to be kidding me! Some styles should just never be repeated.

  2. It's been awhile since I've commented, but know I'm still reading. I love it here! =)

Sounds like our lives are going somewhat the same direction these days. We just got back from a 5-day camp out with friends and family. We will start school next Monday. Brittany really wants to learn to play the guitar, so we'll be helping her buy one. Next month we'll begin the Truth Project class. No one galloping inside our house, although we DO have horses. Ha!

    Have a wonderful fall!

  3. Bubble skirts? Stir-ups? What is next big hair and flash dance shirts??

Manda started piano too. Amy is her teacher. Manda still loves to practice and does it without being prompted.

  7. Why OH WHY are stirrups coming back? Lord have mercy on us all if I have to don those things again in the name of fashion. LOL.

Hope school is going well for you this week!
