I struggle with lunch time. It seems to sneaks up on me most days and our lunches lack variety and are well...quite boring.
When I saw this idea for muffin tin lunches on Chrissie's blog, I knew we had to try it. Just to add some fun to our lunches! Who would have thought that putting typical lunch time fare in a six cup muffin tin would bring giggles and smiles at lunch time. My kids loved it!
Has anyone tried this before? What would you put in the tins for lunch?
Our muffin tin lunch: goldfish, mini pbj (cut with mini cookie cutter), applesauce, string cheese, strawberries, carrot sticks and ranch dressing
Yum! Little man enjoying his lunch
Yes, she is still in her pj's at lunch time!
Check out Chrissie's blog Flipflops and Applesauce. It is filled with fun, creative, inexpensive things to do with your kids. So many wonderful ideas!
Absolutely love this idea!!! I need one more muffin tin to make it work for the five pumpkins that are often at my lunch table. I so have put that on my shopping list. I also checked out the blog you got the idea from, fabulous. Thanks for the heads up on it.
ReplyDeleteAbout my complaining, I guess I had been complaining that day, because I gutted out Manda's room, rearranged and finished some projects that have been LONG overdue. I was complaining about myself and how I had let the stuff sit undone for a couple years! But now it is done and I feel great about the results.
Thanks for the link, Kristen. We just did another muffin tin lunch today w/ pb & honey sandwiches, edamame, watermelon (also cut with a tiny cookie cutter) blueberry applesauce and chocolate pudding.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it helps make lunch preparation so much more manageable!!
the tin reminds me of a tray that my sister and i each had that was just like a cafeteria tray and we loved eating from it when we were little. my parents still have them.
ReplyDeletelove love love it!!
ReplyDeletei've never done it with a muffin tin, but we have two plates with divided sections that i picked up at target that i use all the time. i don't know about you, but i feel like i give dillon a more balanced meal using it :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I might have to give that one a try!!
ReplyDeleteI also have never tried this with muffin tins, but I too have plates with divided sections. We do crackers and cheese, fruit and veggies, etc. It is amazing how much more fun and balanced a meal can get with divided sections??? Crazy! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteVERY fun idea! The only thing I've ever used muffin pans for are for making muffins. Obviously I need to get more creative ;-)
ReplyDeletei'd need to get more muffin tins.
ReplyDeletehmmm, sliced deli meat, cubed cheese, apple slices with peanut butter, peanuts/raisins/ pretzel mix , yogurt, and a cookie (for when you have finished of course).
What a great idea! I'll have to try this with the girls!
